Whenever I boot up my laptop (running Windows Vista Home Premium), Windows Live Messenger automatically loads. While this is not the end of the world, it is annoying and I am trying to find out how to stop it from loading every time.

It seems much slower than XP. For one, how can I turn off the control panels that pop up every time I start up which gives me computer performance? My Windows Vista Home Premium edition came with my Compaq laptop when I bought it. Thanks for any help. Maybe others have this question, too. I know some people are dissatisfied with Windows Vista’s loading time.
It insists on loading HP Total Care Advisor, which takes a good five minutes to load fully, and also Control Panel’s Welcome Center, no matter how many times I try to disable it.
