How to delete another windows vista account?

I have recently ordered a new desktop computer and Windows Vista comes standard on all new computers now days. I have heard some not so good things about Vista and that I should take Vista off and put XP on. I have a copy of XP that I bought a couple of years ago, so that wouldn’t be a problem. I’m just worried that I will take Vista off when I should have kept it. What is y’alls opinion on this? What should I do?
