Windows Vista

Basically when i am using this computer, which is running windows vista, any command i make with my keyboard and mouse takes a second to register with my computer. I know that this is not the fault of the keyboard and mouse i am using because i have used them on different computers and they perform fine. I have heard plenty of bad things about windows vista, but i havent heard anything about this. I would love to know if there is any way i can fix this because i play World of Warcraft and even half a second makes a huge difference in my gameplay. Thanks for you help!
