I have windows xp and want to borrow windows vista from a friend and install it to my computer does it erase everything. files, folders, programs etc. ?

Yes and you can’t activate it because it is not yours.
no..it won’t.. better to save u r data’s in a separate partition

It will only erase everything if you click the clean install option.
Still, you can put all your files to a flash drive and do a clean install. Or you can slsect the other option which does no erase anything, but I advise the clean install.
(by the way, you won’t be able to activate it unless your friend didn’t activate his copy.)
